AMERICAN IDOL KRIS ALLEN'S DEBUT ALBUM DUE FOR RELEASE ON NOV 17

“Hey guys! The album is set to release Nov 17th,” wrote American Idol Kris Allen on Twitter late Thursday night.

The release date for Allen’s debut album had been rumored as November 17, but Allen made the release date official. What he did not mention and has fans curious is what the new album will be titled.

Allen has said in interviews that this will be a pop-rock album – and that “No Boundaries” will not be included.

On Monday Amazon began taking pre-orders for the album under the working title of New Release 2009, reported MTV. “Names like the Fray guitarist Joe King and hip-hop producer Salaam Remi have already been mentioned, but now, you can add the likes of Toby Gad (who produced Beyonce’s ‘If I Were a Boy’ and co-wrote Fergie’s ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’) and Lindy Robbins (who has worked with everyone from the Backstreet Boys to Lisa Loeb) to the roster too,” MTV listed as among Allen’s cast of talent tapped for the album.

And in an interview with the LATimes, Allen sometimes hinted at and sometimes revealed additional information on the birth of about the album.

Allen said, “I think the vision that I have for the first album is so hard to put into words. I know that it’s going to be music that people like and something that is hopefully different than maybe people have heard in a while or maybe ever. I hope that it’s something that grabs people lyrically-wise, subject matter and even musically as well, but something that’s different from what people are doing right now.

When asked whether he was writing songs for the album, Allen said, “I pushed for that. I wanted to be part of the writing process. I don’t know if I can. There’s so much going on right now with the tour and all that. But yeah, we’ve done a lot of co-writing sessions and it’s been an experience because you learn from people who have been writing songs for a long time.

“The first session I had went well, but the song didn’t end up as something I wanted to do on the album. I was intimidated, so I didn’t put my two cents in as much as I should have, but then the next one went really well and I got more comfortable. Same thing with the song though. Closer to what I wanted, but not completely there. And then I was with somebody yesterday and it was weird, but it went really well and I think it’s getting there. I really do. I’m excited.”

AMERICAN IDOL TOUR -- KRIS ALLEN IN BOSTON

American Idol Kris Allen and the Idol finalists are contining to thrill fans as the Idol tour continues to travel across the continent.

In Boston, according to thedartmouth.com, "the audience burst into screams as soon as the show’s familiar techno theme began to play and an enormous center screen rolled a video of last season’s 10 finalists. Even without Ryan Seacrest’s famous line (“This… is American Idol”) and the judges’ snarky or gushing critiques, the performers had enough exuberance to fill the TD Banknorth Garden."

After one by one the Idol contestants showed their vocal and performance talents, it was finally time for American Idol Allen.

Allen attracted as much screaming and applause as Lambert had received, according to Alicia Kim of thedartmouth.com. "He may prefer plaid shirts to Lambert’s guy-liner, but the boyishly handsome Allen got even the most die-hard Lambert fans to cheer for him after his four songs that began with an acoustic version of Kanye West’s “Heartless” and ended with The Beatles’ 'Hey Jude,'" offered Kim.

"He and Lambert — affectionately called Kradam by their fans — were the main spectacle during the group finale of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing," said Kim. And then she added, "You cannot help but smile at their beaming faces after another successful stop on the national tour."

AMERICAN IDOL FINALIST MICHAEL JOHNS OPINES THAT KRIS ALLEN WAS RIGHTFUL WINNER OF IDOL

American Idol finalist Michael Johns, at the 8th Annual In-Style Summer Soiree on Thursday evening, told foxnews that, "Kris Allen was definitely the rightful winner." And he added that he thinks that both Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert will have good careers."

Johns, a good friend of former American Idol judge Paula Abdul, also said that he thinks that her return to the show remains a possibility.

"She will be there, you watch," Johns told Foxnews at the 8th Annual In-Style Summer Soiree on Thursday evening. "We've been talking and texting a bunch. She was just upset that they didn't give her what she deserved. She wasn't asking for the same money as Ryan Seacrest. She wanted almost half that -- $20 million over three years. I love her, and she has a bunch of opportunities coming her way."

KRIS ALLEN: INTERVIEW PART FOUR

In the Los Angles Times Interview with American Idol Kris Allen, part four, Allen discusses the current Idol tour and plans for his music career:

Before you auditioned for “American Idol,” was there ever a point where you were ready to give up music and get a 9-to-5 job?

I don’t know if there was a time when I was going to give up music completely. I was going to give up trying so hard, because whether it would be playing at a church or playing at weddings or anything like that, I felt like music would always be a part of who I was, but yeah, I was totally ready. I was going back to college and was going to finish and hopefully get a decent job so me and my wife could have a comfortable life together, which would have been fine. But things worked out this way. I’m really happy.

AMERICAN IDOL KRIS ALLEN DESCRIBES TALKS WITH CHRIS DAUGHTRY -- SAYS IDOL FINALISTS HAVE THEIR OWN KIND OF FRATERNITY

"People have said that once you get onto the show and make it that far, you're in this kind of fraternity, and as weird as this is, it's true," explained American Idol Kris Allen.

In discussing the American Idol tour, Allen told californiachronicle "It's not the easiest thing in the world. There's not a whole lot of sleep, and you're not on any kind of schedule. You arrive in some places at 5 or 6 in the morning, then some places at 1 or 2 -- it's always different. But every night is totally worth it. The shows are what we do this for."

Allen said that Chris Daughtry, finalist in 2006 and now frontman for the band Daughtry, advised him early on to get as much sleep as he could.

In speaking of Daughtry, Allen explained, "We've dealt with a lot of the same people, gone through the same things. There are good things about it, bad things about it -- there's plenty to talk about with each other. People said that once you get onto the show and made it that far, you're in this ... fraternity, and it's true. We all have each other's back."

Further evidence of the fraternity among Idol finalists of different seasons is checking them on Twitter. Each of the finalists can be observed not only following finalists of their own season, but finalists of other seasons as well.

A perfect example is this season finalist Danny Gokey who follows, among others, Kris Allen, David Archuleta, Carrie Underwood, David Cook, Adam Lambert, Jason Castro, Scott MacIntyre, Megan Joy, Phil Stacey, Allison Iraheta, Matt Giraud, Paula Abdul, Ryan Seacrest and Anoop Desai.

Also reportedly revealed in that interview, Allen's favorite judge was the one who has become known as "the judge with a heart," Paula Abdul. Allen has said that he really hopes that something can be worked out between Idol executives and Abdul to keep her on the show.

KRIS ALLEN IN AN IN-DEPTH INTERVIEW

American Idol Kris Allen provided an in-depth interview to Los Angeles Times' Fred Bronson -- links to three segments of the interview are provided below.

Interview Part One begins:

Season 8 “American Idol” winner Kris Allen was born June 21, 1985, to Neil and Kimberly Allen in Jacksonville, Ark.

Anyone who watched this season of “American Idol” had good reason to think you grew up in Conway, Ark., but that’s not true, right?

Kris Allen: I lived in Jacksonville for most of my life. My high school was in Little Rock, but I lived in Jacksonville forever until college, and then I moved to Conway.

When did you start watching “American Idol”?

Kris Allen: My wife and I don’t have a TV, so it was hard to keep up. But I was living with my mom last year around the time they were down to the Top Five of Season Seven and I started watching. And once you start watching “American Idol,” you really get into it. I didn’t know if I cared who won. It was interesting to watch and see what everyone was going to do. It’s a great show. And it catches you.

You earned a reputation on “American Idol” for taking well-known songs and making them your own. Is that something you’ve always done?

Kris Allen: Yes. When you play in bars and you have to play for three hours, you have to play songs people know. I never wanted to just play a song that people know. I wanted people to think, “That’s a cool way to sing that song” or “That’s a cool way to play that song,” and so it’s always been a part of what I do as a performer.

AMERICAN IDOL KRIS ALLEN ANSWERS SOME QUESTIONS

American Idol Kris Allen answered some questions during a telephone interview with clevelandnews this week.

When asked whether winning American Idol had finally "sunk in," Allen responded, "I don't know if it's something that will ever totally sink in. The part that is definitely becoming evident is that I get to make an album. We're working on that right now. That's probably the biggest part for me, that I get to do something like that."

When Allen was asked which of the Idol finalists he hangs out with the most, he said that they all tend to hang out together a lot. "We have a lot of downtime at the arenas. We just joke around. Do nothing. Talk to each other. And then we spend a lot of time on the bus, watching "Family Guy" or DVDs. On our days off, me and Adam are usually doing things together."

Allen says that he and Adam Lambert are great friends, and it does not bother him to share the spotlight with the Idol runner-up. "I'm a low-key guy," he said. "I don't demand any attention myself. I'm not saying that Adam does. It just kind of comes with who he is. I lay low and do my thing."

Two former Idol winners have helped Allen a great deal, he said. "The two people I've probably talked to the most would be Chris Daughtry and David Cook. Those guys have been super-successful. Having success like either one of those guys would be great."

HOPE RESUMES THAT PAULA MAY RETURN TO AMERICAN IDOL JUDGING PANEL

American Idol executives and Paula Abdul are back in talks again. There are no guarantees that a deal can be struct to bring Abdul back to the Idol judging panel, but at least talks are a step in the right direction.

No doubt current American Idol Kris Allen and the Idol finalists will all be pleased if, in the end, Paula does return to the show. All of the Idol contestants have called Paula the "judge with a heart" -- and hoped that she would return to the show.

Alas, the list was revealed – and there was no Paula. But that only fueled speculation that perhaps Idol executives and Paula might be talking about her return to the show again.

“The people at the very top of ABC were really vocal about getting her (Paula) on board for ‘Dancing,” msnbc quoted a source familiar with talks between the network execs and the Idol former judge. “By not exactly keeping it secret, it made Paula’s value more apparent to Fox.”

The negotiations are called “talks” by msnbc – “since dubbing them ‘negotiations' suggests that one side is budging.

“Paula isn’t lowering her price in any meaningful way. She wants a Seacrest-level deal,” msnbc quotes the source. American Idol host Ryan Seacrest reportedly inked a three-year, $45 million deal.

“If there is a scenario that gets Abdul back on the show, it’s likely that her return would be limited to the live shows only, according to several people who are close to the talks. This will allow the original offer made by the show to stand, but Abdul would have a shorter time commitment,” offers the msnbc article.

ABC was extremely disappointed that they were unable to nap Paula. “They didn’t really want Tom DeLay as their most-buzzed-about contestant,” a source told msnbc.

Throughout the summer Abdul has always expressed that she wanted to return to the American Idol judging panel – and there has been chatter that her friend and fellow judge Simon Cowell has been supporting her behind the scenes. Judges Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi have apparently been supportive as well.

So with talks resumed and a real possibility that she might be back on Idol, it is no wonder that Paula sounds so happy in her Twitter messages.

One of Paula’s recent Tweets reads, “thx for all the support. Never give up on your dreams. Fight for what you believe in. And never stop believing in yourself. xxP”

Another reads, “The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.”

It seems that Paula may be thinking very positively these days!

KRIS ALLEN INTERVIEW

American Idol Kris Allen took some time out of his busy touring schedule to answer some questions from his fans.

If Kris ever hosts a talk show, who would he want to have as guests?

Kris's response, "I would probably say Will Smith. Musical guest? Paul McCartney. And the other guest, let's put a girl in there. Maybe Jennifer Aniston. That's pretty good, right?"

What is Kris' top television show pick? "My favorite TV show ever is 'Boy Meets World.' Topanga's super-hot, man!"

And when Kris was asked about his seeming appreciation for wearing plaid shirts, he answered, "Plaid is in! Is plaid in? I don't know. I guess my eyes are drawn to it. I likt it. It's comfortable."

And Kris' least favorite moment as an Idol winner? It apparently had something to do with an unwelcomed French kiss.

AMERICAN IDOL TOUR, FEATURING AMERICAN IDOL KRIS ALLEN AND NINE FINALISTS, DRAWING HIGH ATTENDANCE

During the current economic crisis, there are some things that Americans will still spend their money to buy -- and it appears that among those items are tickets for the American Idol tour.

The tour, which features current American Idol Kris Allen and nine finalists, is reportedly selling 82 percent of tickets and has grossed $11.2 million which is about the same as last year's tour at the same point.

The first 19 shows of this tour averaged 9,456 attendees per city, very close to last year's 9,771 for the same period, according to Billboard Boxscores.

In the industry aboout 40 percent of tickets go unsold, Billboard senior touring editor Ray Waddell told USA Today. "They're doing better than average," he explained. "These are baby acts on their first national tour, even if they have had the best exposure you can get."

The tour numbers may be helped by the fact that both American Idol Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert were favorites with a huge fan base, and several of the other finalists developed significant followings as well. Also, there is the theory that it is helpful that seven of the top ten performers are guys since Idol concerts tend to draw a high percentage of girls.

Judging by Twitter messages and online reviews, fans have overwhelmingly been thrilled with the tour performances. And word-of-mouth reviews from one fan to another could also have an impact on ticket sales.

Besides Allen and Lambert, Idol finalists performing are Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, Megan Joy, Michael Sarver and Scott MacIntyre.

IS IDOL IN PAULA'S FUTURE -- AMERICAN IDOL OR IDOL AUSTRALIA?

Paula Abdul reportedly has been offered a chance to judge on Idol, but it is Idol in Australia, not Idol in the USA, according to newsday.

The Australian Idols show has “put a request to strike a deal with her in writing,” according to Radaronline. The Australian version of the show should feel like home to Abdul because it is similar to the American version – has four judges and follows an almost identical format.

But rumors are also circulating that there is at least a glimmer of possibility that Paula might return to American Idol!

“Don’t count out a return to ‘American Idol’ for Paula,” a source is quoted on Radaronline. “Sure there are bad feelings, but a last-second return is not out of the question.” That source revealed that Idol judge Simon Cowell has been very supportive of Paula “behind the scenes” – that fellow judges Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi are also supportive.

Abdul, of course, has been described as disappointed that she was earning considerably less money than her male counterparts, felt that some show connections failed to do enough to defend her against rumors that she feels cost her endorsement deals – and felt that the addition of DioGuardi to the judging panel was a message from producers that she could be replaced.

The Idol show offered Abdul $5 million, half of what she wanted and far less than earning of both host Ryan Seacrest and judge Simon Cowell.

But perhaps with a return to contract negotiations, the hurt feelings can be mended and a deal agreed upon.

And while American Idol winners, including current Idol Kris Allen, and contestants have overwhelmingly expressed disappointment and sadness that Abdul may not return to Idol, first season winner Kelly Clarkson feels that the situation is actually all about “drama,” reports MTV.

Clarkson, appearing on Morning Mashup Show, opined, “I totally think they’re doing that for drama. I know those producers – they’re doing that for drama. She’s totally probably going to come back.”

Meanwhile, there is no lack of interest in Paula from other possible suitors. And if the offers are good enough, what would it cost Idol executives to bring her back?

There have been rumors that Abdul has been offered a guest spot on “Ugly Betty” – as a temp at Mode who becomes friendly with Amanda. And it is a fact that execs for both “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing For the Stars” have said that they would love for Paula to join their shows.

IDOL EXECS MAY BE WILLING TO LET PAULA GO, BUT SHE HAS PLENTY OF OTHER SUITORS

Who will win the competition to have Paula Abdul headlining their show? "So You Think You Can Dance" wants her, possibly as guest judge and choreographer. "Dancing With the Stars" apparently wants her too!

Ryan, Simon and Randy all say they love Paula -- that they are stunned that Paula is leaving and wish that she would be back on the show. Fans love Paula. Contestants including American Idol Kris Allen loves her. And reports are surfacing that plenty of network execs, other than from Idol, think that Paula is the greatest thing since sliced bread!

"Now that Abdul is a free agent, she's already a hot commodity to networks looking to chip away at AI's ratings during this rare moment of weakness," read an article in Rolling Stone.

Back when Kara DioGuardi joined the American Idol judging panel, some fans raised eyebrows, and wondered if Fox was auditioning her -- to replace Paula. But in recent days both DioGuardi and Fox have said that was never the case -- that replacing Paula was never on the minds of Fox execs.

Still, in affairs of the heart, often the truth is shrouded in tales of "we still care about each other" and "we will always be friends." Fox's announcement of Paula's departure held that familiar tone. And of course, with break-ups, words get spoken and feelings get hurt. And generally those promises of "we will still be friends" lasts not much longer than it takes to speak those words.

Opinions seem overwhelming that Fox is making a mistake! Folks ask how could Fox let their arguably third biggest draw of their number one reality show simply walk away without really trying to keep her? Fans opine that Idol execs didn't mind coughing up big bucks for host Seacrest -- and will likely do the same for Simon when his new contract is finalized. But why not pay Paula? Is Fox like the fox in the hen house -- caught red handed for stealing Paula all of these years, now sheepishly hiding behind its insinuations that Paula is actually considerably less valuable to Idol than Ryan and Simon?!

Judging by the $3 million to $4 million dollar figures being tossed about as possibly Paula's most recent salary -- most Idol fans think that Paula has been Fox's biggest bargain of all!

Idol contestants love Paula and do not understand why she will not be back. They viewed her as "motherly" -- like the kindly mother hen with a watchful eye to make certain that they were doing well and treated right. They say she cared -- was the judge with a tender heart.

If anything, they say that Paula helped Fox! She made Fox look good -- giving Idol an appearance of feeling concern for its young contestants. And they say she helped Simon. Her tenderness countered Simon's sometimes harsh critiques, allowing him the luxury of speaking the harsher words without giving fans the feeling that the contestants were being picked on.

But no matter -- because it looks like there are plenty of suitors for the lady who has captured America's heart. Producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe has wanted Paula for "So You Think You Can Dance" from the get go -- saying that Fox was crazy to let her go and that he would be happy to welcome her as a guest judge/choreographer on his show.

ABC's entertainment president Steve McPherson said that he would love to see Paula as a judge on "Dancing With the Stars!" In fact, he said that he would love her either as a "participant or a contestant."

So why is Fox letting their gem walk away? Are they trying to save face after paying her a bargain salary for years? Or is Fox simply like the boy that has fallen out of love with the girl -- jilting Paula and trying to quickly move on to a new love?

Whatever the reasons, it seems that Fox's lovey-dovey feelings for Paula are not there -- and Fox is acting the boy that dumps the girl and can't wait to get out of town.

But if Paula does not suit Fox executive's fancy -- there are suitors who appreciate her sweetness and her cute, spunky and sparkling personality. Simply, where Fox may have fallen out of love -- there are plenty of others who feel differently!!

Perhaps, in the end, the best advice for Paula -- go with someone who loves you!!!!

KRIS ALLEN, DAVID COOK AND ADAM LAMBERT ROCK IN CENTRAL PARK

Two American Idol winners and a runner-up -- Kris Allen, David Cook and Adam Lambert -- put on a rockin' show in the Good Morning America series in Central Park.

The three-Idol performers all "knocked it out of the park" -- so to speak. Allen wowed with "Heartless" by Kayne West -- a number from the American Idol tour set list and a particular favorite with fans.

David Cook performed his hit, "Come Back to Me."

And equally as popular as Idol winners, Lambert covered Muse's "Starlight."

An unexpected highlight of the show occurred when Cook brought this year's Idol duo onto the stage to assist with a completely amazing rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "Little Lies." The three Idol alumni traded verses -- screamed in delight! It was American Idol great all over again -- at its very best!

AMERICAN IDOL KRIS ALLEN AND RUNNER-UP ADAM LAMBERT SPEAK OUT FOR PAULA

Throughout the days and now weeks of the Fox/Paula contract negotiations and her announced departure, American Idol contestants have stepped forward to say that Paula was the judge with the heart -- the judge who most loved and supported them.

American Idol wrote on Twitter, "We love you!" and "Glad I was able to be a part of your last season on the show. You showed us so much love."

Now last season favorite Adam Lambert spoke his sentiments at length to Rolling Stone.

"I love Paula," Lambert told Stone, adding that he is certain that Paula will find success in her future.

"She obviously is going to miss interacting with all the Idol contestants," he opined. "She really loves that process of discovering new talent. I think she brings so much heart to the show. She's so supportive. She knows what it is like to be a performer, and she really provides a sense of safety for the auditioners in the room. I have no doubt her future endeavors will bring her success and happiness. She's got a lot that she's capable of."

Lambert told Rolling Stone that Paula always made him feel safe and loved. "It's hard when you're facing intense criticism from some of the more harsh judges on the show and you have millions of people behind the camera watching you. It's nice to have a presence in the room that will root for you and smile. And not only after the performances, but during the performance, she stands up, she claps, she smiles at you -- it's like a safety net."

And he recounted a Paula memory that is special to him. He said that she was so devoted to his season's contestants that she went to a parking lot to help them rehearse the choreography for their disco-night routine. "That was wild," he enthused. "Paula came to the recording studio and rehearsed with us with a car stereo. Too me that was the most surreal moment of the entire season. I was like, I can't believe I am dancing in a parking lot with Paula Abdul!"

AMERICA LOVES ITS "BOYS-NEXT-DOOR" -- BUT CAN ONE ACTUALLY BEAT THE FRONT-RUNNER AGAIN?

"Boy-next-door" Kris Allen captured America's hearts and surprised America by winning 2009 American Idol. Can the same thing happen on "So You Think You Can Dance?"

The “So You Think You Can Dance” grand finale found four of the nation’s most talented and blooming young dancers competing for what might be the opportunity of a lifetime. On the line is the title of “America’s Favorite Dancer,” along with $250,000 and a cover appearance on Dance Spirit magazine.

Approximately 3,000 people jammed into Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre to witness the most important performance night of the popular dance competition show and to cheer on their favorites. From the thousands who gave their best efforts in show try-outs -- there remained only four, Jeanine Mason, 18, from Pinecrest, FL; Evan Kasprzak, 21, from West Bloomfield, MI; Kayla Radomski, 18, from Aurora, CO and Brandon Bryant, 19, from Salt Lake City, UT.

The highlight of the evening -- that one stand-out moment, though, seemed not to be the dancing, the choreographed routines or even the comments of the judges. It was the moment when the theatre erupted with chants of “Ev-an! Ev-an! Ev-an!”

Whether Evan Kasprzak is the strongest dancer has been debated in Main Street USA coffee shops and online message boards – but, regardless, there is little doubt that he has captured the hearts of America!

The clean-cut, “boy-next-door” has catapulted America, now suffering one of the most difficult economic periods in its history, back to the magical age of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly – the golden era of Hollywood when musicals dominated at movie theaters and life seemed so much simpler and purer.

Throughout the evening, though, it almost appeared that SYTYCD judges feared that Kasprzak might win the dance competition, just as Kris Allen took the American Idol crown, based more on his personality and likeability than his actual dancing talent. They seemed spellbound to ensure that fans voted for the dancer they deemed technically strongest instead of with their hearts.

On Twitter and the message boards following the finale, fans questioned why the judges were so “mean” to Evan. He had, after all, been voted into the finals – and typically in reality show finals judges highlight contestant’s strengths rather than dwelling on the weaknesses.

But while the SYTYCD judges over and over pointed out Evan’s “good guy” character and massive popularity, they seemed unable to bring themselves to compliment even single elements in his dancing routines. As one Twitter user put it, they "really pounded him."

When Evan performed a Sonya Tayeh choreographed jazz routine with Jeanine, judge Mary Murphy said that the pair “delivered”, but added “Jeanine stood out a little more.” Judge Nigel Lythgoe complimented Jeanine on her strength and personality, but warned Evan that while he was well-loved by the fans, he would have to step up his dancing if he wanted to win.

But when Brandon and Kayla performed, Murphy exclaimed, “You are the front-runners for me.” And Lythgoe went so far as to say, “I think that the show is beginning now.” – an obvious insult to Evan and Jeanine’s routine.

After the finale fans questioned why Evan and Brandon were ever asked to perform a Laurieann Gibson designed “Nasty.” This unquestionably played into the hands of Brandon, and could not have been more outside of the world of Evan. Even the judges acknowledged that this put Evan at a disadvantage. Murphy quipped, “Evan, what is the nastiest thing you have ever done?” Evan joked that there were too many “nasty” things to list – and the audience roared. But the judges all agreed that Evan did not have a “nasty” bone in his body and had never done a “nasty” thing in his life.

Evan’s best chance to shine and extract praise from the judges came with his solo. While this was likely not his strongest ever, again the judges took full advantage of the opportunity to criticize more than praise. Choreographer/judge Adam Shankman pointed out that this routine was a slightly altered version of his audition piece -- and shook his Head. Murphy at least praised Evan for reintroducing America to the Fred Astaire/Gene Kelly style of dancing, but had little to say of his performance. And Lythgoe delivered the ultimate stinger when he, after saying that America had fallen in love with Evan, asserted that Evan is not as good as strong as Brandon and Jeanine.

The situation did not improve for Evan. After he jived across the dance floor with Kayla, Shankman exclaimed that he unsure that this was a finale level routine – it “didn’t reach out to me.” Murphy called the routine was strong, but said that the dancing was not -- adding, “Kayla, you stole the show.” And Lythgoe finally did compliment, saying that both dancers came out with guns blazing.

But as the show progressed toward the final dance, fans probably expected that the final comments for Brandon and Jeanine would be strong. The pair was gifted with a paso doble that played right into their hands since strength is considered among their highest attributes.

The judges to their feet for Brandon and Jeanine -- and the audience cheered. There was the sense that the judges got exactly what they wanted from what seemed their favorite dancers. Shankman complimented the transitions, intensity and movement. Murphy could not contain herself, awarding her famous scream over and over and over again. Lythgoe placed his hands over his ears as a protection from Murphy's high-volume shrieks. And then Lythgoe offered that Brandon was “like a race horse snorting to get out of the stall, and she was ready for it.” He concluded his critique with the final words, “You two are the front-runners!”

SYTYCD judges opined that Evan has captured the hearts of the nation -- and they seemed all the tougher on him because of his popularity.

If the judges have their way, clearly only Brandon or Jeanine are in real contention for the coveted title of “America’s Favorite Dancer.”

But the question remains, what will America do? Will Brandon, who garnered clearly the highest praise from the judges all evening long, walk away with the coveted title? Will either Jeanine or Kayla, shining stars all season, be crowned? Or will fans ignore SYTYCD judges and vote with their hearts? SYTYCD fans wait for the answer!

In viewing several online polls, it appears that the judges may get their way -- since Brandon and Jeanine are generally leading. But it was also expected that Adam Lambert would be crowned 2009 American Idol, and instead the nation chose "boy-next-door" Kris Allen. Can a "boy-next-door" also surprise and win SYTYCD?

PAULA ABDUL LEAVING AMERICAN IDOL -- IT IS OFFICIAL

The days of watching Paula and Simon playfully teasing each other on the American Idol judges panel are over. The days of watching Paula compliment contestants on spectacular performances are over -- as are the days of watching her comfort contestants whose performances fell a bit short. The often called "sweetest and kindest" of American Idol judges is officially off the show -- and fans say that the show will "never be the same again!"

"With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #IDOL," Paula Abdul lamented to her fans on Twitter. "I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon.

"What I want to say most," she continued, "is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all."

Fox, FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment released a brief statement on Tuesday night officially announcing that Abdul's days as an Idol judge are over.

"Paula Abdul has been an important part of the American Idol family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show," the statement read. "While Paula will not be continuing with us, she's a tremendous talent and we wish her the best."

When word spread that Paula will no longer grace television screens during the airing of American Idol, fans began expressing their sadness on Twitter and online message boards. And they opined frustration that network executives ignored their extensive campaigns to keep Paula on the show.

One fan wrote, "Why does AI not listen to us? We are the fans. Without us, there would be no show. And we have been very clear in our message that we want Paula! Do they really care about us at all?"

A source close to Abdul said Fox offered her a contract -- but that Abdul turned that down, reported online Pop Tarts.

"Paula is actually handling the situation really well," a source told Pop Tarts. "She is in great spirits. She has so many offers and opportunities and has been in New York this week taking meetings."

But after eight seasons as an American Idol judge, Paula had made it clear to her fans that she wanted to remain on the show. And it was only after negotiations stalled that she explained to those fans, "I hope you can understand that I can only return to Idol if the deal is fair."

For the entire past season rumors flew that Fox had introduced Kara DioGuardi on the judges panel as an eventual replacement for Paula. Then when DioGuardi was signed for the coming season, speculation heightened that Fox might not be serious in their negotiations to keep Paula on the show.

Whatever the reason why contract negotiations failed between Paula and network executives, many American Idol fans feel that the show has also failed them. As one source revealed, "If they could pay $45 million to Ryan (Seacrest), they certainly could have kept Paula if they really wanted to do that. It appears that they didn't really want her back and didn't care what the show's fans wanted either. There is something very wrong with that."

After the announcement, one fan wrote, "No more Paula. American Idol is doomed." Another wrote, "Paula Abdul is my idol & #NopaulaNoidol." Another wrote, "I'm not watching American Idol without Paula!" And still another opined, "EVERYONE LOVES HER! I AM NOT WATCHING SEASON 9!"

Clearly Paula has been popular with American Idol fans -- and it is the fans' and the show's loss that she will not be there for Season 9!

KRIS ALLEN TO APPEAR ON ELLEN DeGENERES ON WEDNESDAY

American Idol Kris Allen will appear on the Ellen DeGeneres television show this Wednesday, August 5.

Allen, in the midst of the American Idol Tour that is sweeping across the U.S. and Canada until mid-September, will both perform and be interviewed by DeGeneres.

Also during the tour, Allen is working on an album that is due to be released in the fall. "We are currently working on it during the tour -- when I have days off," he explained. "The album will probably be pop/rock, with hopefully a little bit of something that will surprise fans in a good way."

'NO BOUNDARIES' DELETED FROM IDOL TOUR SET LIST

The Kara DioGuardi written "No Boundaries" has been removed from American Idol Kris Allen's list of songs performed on the American Idol tour. Instead, Allen is singing Killer's "All These Things That I've Done." And fans say they like set list change.

Allen told MTV that he likes the DioGuardi penned song, but it simply did not work well with other songs on the set list.

"We were talking to the tour director and stuff," he explained, "and it kinda just didn't work with the set."

But Idol contestant Scott MacIntyre told eonline, "What I hear from people here was that they could tell the audiences weren't connecting to it. When I listen from backstage, I thought it was a good song, and I thought that Kris did it well, and it was even better than during the finale. He was really jiving with it, but it was an executive decision that he and the producers made based on the energy from the crowd. There are mixed emotions about that song because obviously it's still being pushed, so you kind of expect to hear it on the tour."

Fans and critics were describing "No Boundaries" as "sticking out" among Allen's five-song set list, reported MTV. Among his performances are fan favorite during the Idol competition, Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine," along with Kayne West's "Heartless" and the Beatles' "Hey Jude."

Allen told MTV that he noticed a positive difference in the audience's reaction to the song change. "Obviously, adding the Killers song was a, you know, boost in the energy," Allen said.
From the unveiling of "No Boundaries" through to the early tour concerts, though, it seems that many fans simply did not care very much for the song. MTV quoted some Idol fans who said that they were pleased with the song switch.

"I'm so glad that Kris took 'No Boundaries' out of the show," said Allison Beal of Sacramento, California. "There are so many great songs, and it wasn't fair that he had to sing that one. It's okay, but just not a really great song."

And Peter Hunt, also from Sacramento, agreed, "I think that I like anything that Kris sings, but, personally, I just didn't care that much for 'No Boundaries.'"

AMERICAN IDOL KRIS ALLEN HONORED WITH HIGHWAY SIGN

American Idol Kris Allen's grandfather, Charles Wood, was on hand for the unveiling of a highway sign honoring his famous grandson, according to the Jacksonville Patriot. The sign will be visible to motorists traveling along U.S. 67/167.

In speaking of his grandson, Wood said, "I think he's done good." He added that once Allen had made it into the top four contestants on Idol, he thought that Allen had "a shot" at winning.
